When it’s time, you’ll know

I’ve been reflecting on my Medium journey for the past few months and contemplating deleting it many times since signing up around the pandemic. This platform is performing differently than I would like it to. I’ve always wanted my words to make some passive income while I explore what life has to offer.

I’ve never been the one to candy-coat anything, so I will say this: I don’t share my thoughts for the sake of sharing my thoughts. I write because I want to make income. I’m not like everyone else who will give you the rainbows and unicorn version of the joy of writing and the love of supporting other writers; that’s only a tiny part of my goal.

My words are powerful and inspiring, moving mountains and bringing people to tears. They are worth more than $7.00 a month. It’s been hard to break even on this platform, and the analogy of putting your head down, writing every day, and reading every story to get reads and follows in return isn’t a work ethic I want. Writing should never be considered a “what have you done for me lately?”

My writing and words are timeless; I don’t need an algorithm or a read-for-read exchange to prove that. Once I click publish, the world should read my pain and struggles. — teisha leshea
