All Lives Don’t Matter When It Comes to Medical Racial Bias

For some reason, my Dear Entitled White Women letter has been gaining steam for the past few days. One of the reasons why it may be gaining traction is because I’m making it a priority to respond to every comment that replies to my stories. Maybe my engagement has winked at the algorithm, or people are looking up topic-specific stories either way; I’m appreciative for context, written this past May.

As a BLACK WOMAN, I must put that all in caps for readers to understand my objective. I’m only going to say this once, and I hope your comprehension is college level, so please hear me/read these words. I can only share my story from the black perspective. The only person I can be is black.

STOP ALL LIVES MATTERING MY SH*T

The word ALL still dismisses my story and other black women’s stories I’ve spoken with and written. I’m NOT an “all women” individual I’m just A woman that happens to be black.

Would you tell a dog how to growl? Or what about telling a fish how to breathe underwater? Of course not. Why? Because the closest thing to being an animal is reading about them and visiting them at the zoo. Yes, we are mammals. I get it. But once again, you don’t get to tell me how to be black and…
